What a non-shrink grout is for
An ordinary cement grout shrinks as it cures and loses contact with the surfaces it was placed to bear against, which turns a bedded base plate into a plate resting on high spots. A non-shrink grout is formulated to hold its volume through cure so the bearing stays full. On furnace and kiln installations that matters wherever load has to be transferred into a foundation.
Ancillary, not a lining material
This category sits alongside the refractory work rather than in the hot face. It is listed here because it is what an installation crew asks for on the same order, not because it belongs inside a furnace.
Where this is the wrong answer
Anything in contact with process heat. Grouting cement is a structural material, not a refractory lining.
